The Amherstburg Uncommon Festival returns this weekend with the town stating it will be bringing three days of unique entertainment, hands-on experiences, live performances and family-friendly activities in the downtown core.

From street chalk art and mentalism to busking, theatre, pottery, candle making and escape rooms, visitors are invited to explore the unexpected throughout downtown streets, King’s Navy Yard Park and the Waterfront Festival Plaza, the town states in a news release.

Highlights include Mysterion, a mind reader and psychological entertainer featured on Canada’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent, along with busking performances from Bubbleology Show, Jake in the Box and Miles High Show, and shows by the Purple Theatre Company.

Also being promoted by the Town are internationally recognized street chalk artist David Zinn, who will also be creating imaginative works throughout the festival grounds, while visitors can take hot air balloon rides this Friday night courtesy of Re/Max.

There will be pottery and candle-making experiences, mini escape rooms, scavenger hunts and the WFCU Wizard Academy. Visitors can also explore paranormal investigations and pirate encampment throughout the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday costume contests return with support from Walker Aggregates. The town is encouraging visitors “to dress their best, embrace the uncommon and compete for cash prizes.”

On Saturday evening, festivalgoers can enjoy a fireworks display over the river, thanks to J&J Marine.

This year’s festival will also feature the largest vendor and food truck market.

The Town thanks the festival’s supporters - Walker Industries, WFCU, J&J Marine, Re/Max, Leavitt Machinery, MNSi, and the Government of Ontario.
