Every voter of every age demographic needs to get out and vote
One advance poll is in the books, another is this Saturday at Anderdon Public School or the Libro Centre (10 a.m.-8 p.m. both locations) and election day itself is Monday, October 26.
Why am I telling you this?
The answer is because we at the River Town Times want you to vote.
Voter turnout in the 2022 municipal election was roughly 39 per cent. That number needs to increase in 2026 because elections are important and people of all ages need to cast their votes to determine their future.
Voting is something people of all ages should be doing, as was just alluded to, as the future belongs to all of us.

Regardless of your age, whether you are a young person voting for the first time or a senior who has been of legal voting age for a few decades now, you should be heading out to the polls to cast your ballot.
Every vote counts and people should exercise their right to vote.
Study the issues, find out where the candidates stand on issues important to you and make up your own mind. Don’t just vote because people on social media are trying to influence you to vote a certain way. Decide for yourself, educate yourself properly, ask the candidates themselves questions and vote accordingly.
The RTT has run profiles on all 20 candidates (three for mayor, two for deputy mayor and 20 for councillor), as well as providing coverage on all-candidate nights.
We are trying to provide reliable information to the public as best we can and we also know candidates have been busy posting online and knocking on doors trying to get their platforms out. Stay informed and stay engaged.
The future, specifically the next four years, belong to all of us so we all should take the time to get out and vote.
