Obituary - Carolyn Ann Bethune

Carolyn Ann Bethune 

October 26 1940 - September 11 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Ann Bethune, who is now resting peacefully with her beloved husband, Louis Bethune. 

Carolyn was the cherished daughter of Theresa and Arthur Gall and is reunited in Heaven with her siblings, Charles “Sonny” Gall, Gwen Gall, and Sharon Giffen (Findlay). 

Carolyn was a devoted mother to Cary Jo “CJ” Banks (Terry Stuebing), Glenn Bethune (Karen), and Todd Bethune (Ansley). She was a loving and proud Nana to Lyndsi (Mateo), Jessi (Jordan), Miranda, Katelyn, and Tessa, who brought immense joy and love into her life. 

Carol dedicated 40 years to the credit union system, where she held many positions throughout her career. She was also deeply involved with the Amherstburg Legion Branch 157, where she proudly served her community and eventually retired from her position as President. 

Above all, Carolyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, family member, and friend. She treasured her family and cherished every opportunity to bring the people she loved together. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by family and friends, sharing drinks, laughter, stories, and making memories that will be treasured forever. 

Carolyn had a warm heart and a wonderful way of making those around her feel loved and welcome. Her laughter, strength, kindness, and love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. 

A very special thank you goes to the staff at Iler Lodge, where Carolyn spent the last four years of her life. During that time, they became so much more than caregivers — they became her second family. We are incredibly grateful and thankful for the care, compassion, laughter, and beautiful memories they shared with Carolyn. We will forever appreciate the love they showed her. 

Carolyn leaves behind a lifetime of love, memories, and stories that will continue to live on through her family and all those who were fortunate enough to know her. 

Rest peacefully, Mom. Give Dad a big hug for us, you will be loved and missed forever.
