It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert on August 20, 2026, at the age of 80. Cherished husband of Mary Patricia (née Cournoyea) for 58 years. Loving father of Chris Cote (Kym), Kevin Cote and Cheryl Pillon, and Renee Morais (née Cote) (Shawn). Proud and adored grandpa of Ty, Abigail, and Nat. 

Beloved brother of Patricia Meloche, Doug Cote (Janet), Roger Cote (Arlene), Michelle Cote (Ed Gagnon), and Rochelle Cote. Dear brother-in-law to Ann Merner, Joan Finn (Tim), and Jim Cournoyea. 

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Albemy Jr. and Lorraine Cote (née Bissonnette); his parents-in-law, Arthur and Marie Cournoyea (née Simmons); his sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Donnie Myers; his brothers-in-law, Garnet Meloche and Frank Cournoyea. 

Robert retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 31 years of dedicated service, and later retired from the Greater Essex County District School Board. He was an avid golfer, reader, and talented carpenter who loved spending his time out on the course or working on his latest project. Robert will be deeply missed by his family and friends. 

A special thank you to Dr. Pan and Dr. Chowdhury at the Windsor Cancer Clinic, as well as the 4th-floor staff at Windsor Regional Hospital - Met Campus, for their exceptional care. 

Cremation has taken place along with a private family gathering. If you wish, donations can be made in his honour to the Windsor Cancer Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation (Amherstburg), 519-254-2585.
