Amherstburg man facing impaired charge after crash in LaSalle

The LaSalle Police Service states that an Amherstburg man faces charges after a single vehicle collision early last Sunday morning.


LaSalle police says that shortly after 2 a.m. Oct. 4, officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Todd Lane and Malden Road. On arrival, officers located a pick-up truck that had struck a hydro pole. 


As a result of this collision, there was a power outage with Essex Powerlines stating on its Twitter/X account that impacted residents in LaSalle and Amherstburg. 


In speaking with the driver of the vehicle, it is alleged that officers detected signs of impairment. As a result, the 23-year-old male driver from Amherstburg was arrested, charged for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and after further testing, Operating a Conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mgs. 


The road remained closed for a period of time until the powerlines could be safely repaired, police added.
