“Bridgerton Tea” returns as a Park House Museum fundraiser

The Park House Museum held its second annual “Bridgerton Tea” last Friday with there being two seatings. The second one, pictured above, was sold out. 

A fundraiser for the Park House Museum was presented based off a television series set in England.

The Park House Museum hosted its “Bridgerton Tea,” based off the “Bridgerton” television show. Museum curator Kat Bezaire said the most recent season of “Bridgerton” highlighted a masquerade party so that is the theme of the Bridgerton Tea, held July 17.

“This is our second year running the event,” said Bezaire. “Once again, we have received a very generous donation from the Panetteria, who provided us the goodies and the bread for the sandwiches. It’s amazing to be able to work with local businesses. It also helps us keep our costs down.”

There were two seatings, with a small but enthusiastic crowd at the 11 a.m. sitting and a sold out crowd of ladies at the 5 p.m. seating.

“We found it was a popular event last year and we wanted to do it again this year,” said Bezaire.

Curator Kat Bezaire also got into the spirit of the July 17 event (below right).

They hoped to play croquet in the back of the building, but poor air quality kept everyone indoors, she added.

“Visitor safety is, of course, top priority,” she said.

Proceeds from the Bridgerton Tea go back into the Park House Museum.

“We’re working on restorative maintenance of the building,” said Bezaire.

Such projects they are working towards are repainting the main building and sealing up windows. The Park House Museum recently had a restoration of the Pensioner’s Cottage at the back of the building and are now turning their attention to ensuring the main building stays in good health.

“We’re doing more preventative maintenance now,” she said. “We’re fixing the smaller problems before they become big problems.”

The Park House Museum has another fundraiser this Sunday as they have a barbecue planned to go on during the Amherstburg’s Gone Car Crazy show.
