Demolition project leaves resident wondering about responsible use of tax dollars

I would like to express my concern about the $700,000 decision Amherstburg council spent to demolish part of the Hub building in Amherstburg.
At this Richmond Street location, they provide important community services, such as the health clinic and the seniors bus services. In order to create 28 additional parking spots, council is demolishing 10,500 square feet of the building.
By the way, this is newest part of the whole building.
My question is simple, would you spend $700,000 for 28 more spots, when the existing parking is underutilized? I suggest alternative uses for the funds, such as more playground equipment for our children in our parks, a boat ramp, fix more of our roads which are in dire straits in some areas.
Here is a good one, save the money in the bank for a rainy day, or pay down our new firehall to save or lower our mortgage over the 21 years of debt.
I know you have a hard job to do, it is not easy sometimes and I thank you for trying to make our town a better place. I am just one taxpayer with a different opinion and emphasize the importance of responsible spending of taxpayer dollars.
