The Miracle League of Amherstburg is taking a break from the diamond and is hitting the mini-golf course instead.
A fundraising mini-golf tournament will be held this Saturday afternoon from 1-4 p.m. at Ure’s Country Kitchen with proceeds going to the Miracle League of Amherstburg. The Woofa-Roo Pet Festival is at the Libro Centre, so the Miracle League baseball action will take a pause and resume June 7.
All Miracle League players can participate free-of-charge but the charge for anyone else is $5.
“The public is encouraged to come out and play golf,” said Miracle League vice president Lynn Pouget. “All money collected for golf will be given to The Miracle League of Amherstburg to support our teams. The Miracle League of Amherstburg has nine teams of approximately 20 players on each team.”
Pouget said this is not an actual competition and there are no prizes. There are no age categories and it is individual scoring.
“Everyone can just show up ready to play after 1 p.m.,” she said. “The event will finish at 4 p.m. We are doing a shotgun start.”
Pouget added there will be hotdogs, chips and water available to all Miracle League players for free and to all other golfers for a donation.
Ure's Country Kitchen is located at 6000 County Road 20 West at County Road 50.
