Mother’s Day was celebrated again this year at the Gibson Gallery in Amherstburg.
The gallery hosted its Mother’s Day High Tea last Sunday morning with all seats sold out this year.
“We had 28 people sign up,” said gallery board member Lisa Bassett. “We had tables set up in the front and back rooms. Everyone was really happy and impressed.”
Bassett said two types of tea were served during the morning, with croissants, relish dishes, cheeses and chicken salad served as a main course. She added fresh fruit and pastries were served for dessert with yogurt parfaits also on the menu.
It was a fundraiser for the gallery.
“We got a lot of new faces and a lot of returning aces too,” she said.
There were families with teenagers who turned out to make the Mother’s Day High Tea a family affair, Bassett added.
A gift basket was also raffled off, with the winner being Ann Ducharme.
There was one seating this year with gallery volunteers believing they will stick with that format going forward.
The Gibson Gallery’s current exhibit is “Parallels: Finding Monet During Wartime.” The last day of the show is this Sunday, May 17, and includes the closing reception that runs from 2:30-4 p.m.
The Gibson Gallery is located at 140 Richmond St. in Amherstburg. For more information, visit www.gibsonartgallery.com or call 519-736-2826.
