While the start of the next WECSSAA football season is approximately four months away, the North Star Wolves are among the teams getting ready.A spring football camp is being held at the school, all under the supervision of its new head coach and staff.

Emmitt Rosati has been teaching basic fundamentals with the hope of getting the team as ready as he can for this fall’s football season.

“It’s been really awesome so far,” said Rosati. “We’ve had great numbers so far.”

North Star’s spring football camp ran last Monday (June 1), Wednesday and Thursday and resumed this past Monday (June 8) and ends today (June 8). The highest attendance at any of the days was about 25-30 players, something Rosati was pleased with.

“Right now, we’re focusing on the fundamentals,” said Rosati, a former General Amherst and University of Windsor player.

Learning the basics is what is happening in June and when the players return to school in the fall, movement skills and systems will be included.

“There’s a ton of natural ability here,” he said. “There are some good athletes.”

A lot of Grade 12 players are graduating from the 2025 team but this fall’s 2026 version of the Wolves will have “a good mix” of returning and new talent, said Rosati.

The coaching staff is limited as to how much they can work with the players, he added, as once spring practice concludes, their next opportunity to work with the players won’t be until the fall, right around the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Rosati said the goal is to have the players work on skills and fundamentals they learn at this camp and develop them over the summer.

That includes strength and conditioning so they can be ready for the next football season.
