The North Star Wolves senior girls volleyball team were busy last week with three matches, including their first win of the season.
The Wolves played three times, the first being a match on their home court last Tuesday evening (Dec. 16) against the Kennedy Clippers. The Wolves came out on the short end of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-17 scores but their coach still saw some good things from her team.
“Overall, it was a good game,” said Mya Foreman. “They are a good rival, for sure.”

Foreman said they had a short bench against the Clippers, with some players missing due to illness while others missed due to other commitments. She said their serve receive could be “cleaned up a bit” and they need to improve covering on their passing but she said they did a good job in other areas of the match.
“Overall, they played really well,” said Forman. “I liked their energy. They were cheering. They were positive.”
Players had to play in different positions and Foreman said they had a good effort.
The Wolves closed the 2025 portion of their regular season schedule with a pair of road games. North Star was in Leamington last Wednesday evening for a match against the Cardinal Carter Cougars. The Wolves captured the first set but lost the next two by scores of 25-16 and 25-23.
North Star broke through for its first victory of the season last Thursday evening at Catholic Central in Windsor. The Wolves won the first two sets 25-16 and 25-18 with the Comets taking the third set 25-18.
With the win, the Wolves are now 1-4 on the WECSSAA Tier 2 regular season.
Following the holiday break, the Wolves return to action on the road at Herman Jan. 6 at 5:20 p.m. They return to Windsor Jan. 8 for a 4 p.m. match against the Brennan Cardinals.
The Wolves’ next home game is Jan. 13 at 5:20 p.m. against the Tecumseh Vista Academy Vortex.
