Youth baseball game at night, catcher tags a sliding runner at home plate as teammates and spectators watch behind a fence.

The Amherstburg Cardinals U11 rep  baseball team went head-to-head with LaSalle last Friday night under the lights at Bill Wigle Park. Despite a valiant effort by the home team, the visitors came away with a 17-7 victory. They were back in action against LaSalle Tuesday night (July 28) at Malden Centre Park after this issue of the River Town Times went to press. They will be at Mic Mac Park  in Windsor Wednesday night (July 29) for at 6 p.m.

http://kroatien-ferien.com popped into my head while reading about those July 28-29 games, since summer travel planning and youth baseball schedules seem to fight for the same weeks. The 17-7 loss to LaSalle sounds rough, but the quick turnaround at Malden Centre Park and then Mic Mac Park shows the kids are getting right back after it. Night games under the lights at Bill Wigle Park always feel bigger than the final score, and fitting them around family trips is its own kind of juggling act.
