Wolves boys soccer team still looking for first victory

The North Star Wolves boys soccer team haven’t had the results they want so far, at least not on the scoreboard.

The Wolves are now 0-3 on the 2026 WECSSAA “A/AA” boys soccer season, with two losses coming last week. The first game of the week was last Tuesday (April 7) on the road against the Leamington Lions. The Wolves kept it close but the Lions won on their home field by a final score of 3-2.

North Star returned to its own home field at the Libro Centre two days later for a game against the Cardinal Carter Cougars. The young Wolves fought hard but the Cougars emerged with a 4-0 victory.

“Our team played hard. We should have gotten to the outside the field a bit more,” said Matthew Bull of the Wolves. “Our goalie played phenomenal.”

Kai Robson agreed that they have to use the outside edges of the field more, adding they have to do a better job of getting down the field from the wings. Improving their defense and passing were other components of their games he believes North Star needs to get better at.

Bull added that striker Max Ricciuti had a good game against Cardinal Carter, stating Ricciuti had several scoring opportunities that were either stopped or just missed the goal. He added there has been some progress this season, but “we have a lot more to improve.”

North Star has this week off and resumes game action next Tuesday, April 21, at the Libro Centre against L’Essor. It is their final home game of the six-game regular season with the last two on the road. The Wolves are scheduled to play at Tecumseh Vista Academy April 23 and in Belle River April 28.

All games get underway at 4 p.m.
