The North Star Wolves ended last week with three wins and two losses on the baseball diamond.
The Wolves had a pair of games on the diamond last week, including a 6-1 win over the Tecumseh Vista Academy Vortex last Monday (May 4) at the Libro Centre.
That game was called after five innings after a player on Tecumseh Vista Academy was ejected and that left the Vortex with not enough players to finish the game.
Shane Munro, one of the North Star coaches, said they got strong pitching and timely hitting.
The game against the Vortex was “chippy,” Munro added.
Munro said they want to play hard but respectfully and get along with the other team. He credited Graham Evans, Evan Scott and Hudson Purdy for having strong games versus the Vortex. Jack Mastronardi had a solid game on the mound.
The Wolves returned to the Libro Centre’s premier baseball diamond two days later for a May 6 afternoon game with the Belle River Nobles.
The Nobles built a 7-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning but the Wolves made things interesting as they scored some runs, but not enough.
Belle River won the game last Wednesday by a final score of 7-4.
The Wolves’ final two regular season games were this week.
They were in Windsor Monday afternoon to play the Brennan Cardinals and return to the Libro Centre today (May 13) to host the Erie Migration Coyotes at 3:30 p.m.
