Amherstburg resident facing impaired driving charge

An Amherstburg resident is facing an impaired driving charge after a traffic stop by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex.


On June 20, 2026, at approximately 12:10 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on South Talbot Road near Maidstone Avenue West in the Town of Essex.


A 49-years-old resident of Amherstburg was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).


A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.


The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor July 27 to answer to the charges.
