Arrest made after road rage investigation

The Windsor Police Service says a 22-year-old man has been arrested following an alleged road rage incident in Amherstburg. 

Windsor police responded to a report of a road rage incident in the area of Sandwich St. South and Lowes Side Road just before 8 a.m. July 16. Through investigation, officers learned that the incident began after an exchange of hand gestures between two motorists. 

Following this disagreement, the suspect allegedly conducted an abrupt U-turn, approached the victim’s vehicle, and damaged the driver’s side mirror. When the victim exited his vehicle, it is further alleged the suspect punched him several times before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police add. 

Shortly before 10 a.m., the suspect turned himself in at the Amherstburg detachment of the Windsor Police Service. The accused has been charged with assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and mischief to property.
