Harrow woman grieving loss of her dog after reported attack

A Harrow woman is grieving the loss of her dog after she said it was attacked inside of her own home.
Donna Brown said she went to hang laundry Sept. 26 and one of her dogs, Dexter, followed her into another room. That left her other dog River alone inside.
Another dog, a Golden Retriever, is accused of coming through a screen door and attacking River, a two-year-old Yorkie.
Brown said she covered her dog with a towel and got a neighbour to drive her to a veterinarian in Harrow. Donna soon discovered her organs were exposed. The dog died in her arms a short time after.
“Never ever did it dawn on me that I had to worry about my dog in the house,” said Brown.
Brown said she contacted Essex’s animal control and the OPP.
“It’s like a nightmare I can’t wake up from,” she said.
The owner of the Golden Retriever, according to Brown, offered to let her run expenses through their insurance.
“I really miss my dog,” she said. “I know I can’t change the end result of what happened. She’s gone and can’t come back.”
