Local cadet corps holds year-end holiday dinner at Legion Branch 157

The #202 Fort Malden Windsor Regiment Royal Canadian Army Cadets (RCAC) gathered recently to celebrate the holidays as well as the year gone by.


The corps’ annual holiday party was held at Royal Canadian Legion Fort Malden Br. 157 with members of the corps, officers, supporters and families on hand.


Commanding officer Capt. Stefan Miller noted the corps was restarted in Amherstburg in September 1977. He said they have produced numerous success stories as cadets have been able to reach their full potential and gone onto successful careers.


“Our cadets have gone onto become great leaders in our community and in our country,” said Miller.


Cadets have been known to travel throughout Canada and to numerous countries around the world.


The local cadet corps is supported by Legion Br. 157 and now meets every Wednesday night at North Star High School. The corps now has 31 members.

“Volunteers have contributed many hours to ensure the success of the corps,” said Miller. 


Leadership both past and present were honoured at the dinner, including past commanding officers, some of whom were at the dinner.


Royal Canadian Legion Fort Malden Br. 157 president Shawn Wilkie said the corps has been built back up and brought the Legion’s best wishes to the corps. 

“They’ve done an amazing job,” said Wilkie. 


Wilkie also pointed out the success stories the cadet corps has created over the Local cadet corps holds year-end holiday dinner at Legion Br. 157years, thanks to the commanding officers and staff.
