Little Buddies Preschool and School Age Centre held a “Carnival Day” earlier this month to recognize their 15 years of operating in Amherstburg. The evening’s festivities included carnival games (Below) and a bench dedication (above).

A local childcare facility in Amherstburg hosted a “Carnival Day” to celebrate their 15th anniversary.

Little Buddies Preschool and School Age Centre held the event for their families and the community at large at their Dalhousie St. facility. There were bouncy rides, games and food before a bench dedication and movies.

Owner Tammy Brochert said they opened 15 years ago and wanted to do something to give back to the community. She said between their Simcoe St. and Dalhousie St. locations, they have almost 120 children enrolled.

“I love it. I love being in Amherstburg,” said Brochert.

Little Buddies opened in 2011 with just her, her husband and their daughter.

“Now we have 38 staff,” she said.

Some of their staff members were once children they looked after and now have come back to work there.

The goal is to expand into Harrow and Windsor, said Brochert.

“It’s all about the funding,” she said.

The bench was dedicated in memory of her late husband.

“The bench dedication was sweet. I was able to share our story how little buddies started with one preschool room on Simcoe,” she said. “Then we just kept growing to the point we had to move out of our home.  Now we have two locations. Mr. Paul helped build all the cubbies, painted walls, cooked our meals, and did our payroll. He was a positive role model to a lot of children and the kids just loved him.  He will be missed greatly.”
