The 2026 spring season for the Miracle League of Amherstburg is underway and the league continues to get bigger and better.
Shawn Dufour, the president of the Miracle League’s board of directors, welcomed everyone back to the diamond last Saturday, with four games being played on the first Saturday of the season. The league’s spring season runs every Saturday, weather permitting, through June 20.
“Registration continues to grow and we have welcomed 25 new players,” said Dufour. “We now have 192 players and ten teams.”
Eight teams play per week with two teams having bye weeks.
The Miracle League of Amherstburg’s new centre field video board was in operation for the first time. Dufour thanked all of the Miracle League’s sponsors and supporters.
New volunteers are always welcome and people can sign up to volunteer at www.amherstburgmiracle.com. The Kingsville U15 baseball team volunteered for two of the games last Saturday due to some of their players having family on some of the Miracle League teams.

The Miracle League of Amherstburg will host the Friday night fish fry at the Columbus Community Hall, located at 190 Richmond St. in Amherstburg, May 15 from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Dufour pointed out.
“We’re looking forward to a great season,” he said.
Mayor Michael Prue, Deputy Mayor Chris Gibb and Councillor Linden Crain were on hand to welcome in the spring season with Councillor Don McArthur attending later in the day.
Prue said he is always delighted to come out to the Miracle League baseball diamond.
“This is a great start to the spring,” said Prue. “Everybody should be able to play baseball. I’m glad this is available to everyone.”Calling the Miracle League of Amherstburg one of the greatest things in town, Prue added the town regularly markets it and promotes the league.
