Push on to increase membership for Ladies Auxiliary at Legion Br. 157

The Ladies Auxiliary at Royal Canadian Legion Fort Malden Br. 157 is trying to increase its membership.

Legion Br. 157 president Shawn Wilkie said the Ladies Auxiliary is down to 13 members and efforts are being made to increase that number. 

While membership in the branch itself is over 600 members and at record highs, Wilkie wants to see more helping out with the Ladies Auxiliary and is making a commitment to showcasing the L.A. with an effort to recruit new members.

“The Ladies Auxiliary is an integral part of every Branch,” he said. “It is an integral part of this Branch.”

Wilkie indicted he is willing to put in the effort to increase the membership in the Ladies Auxiliary and would like others to join him. He pointed out that Br. 157 is 97-years-old this year.

The Ladies Auxiliary is open to women and men who wish to be involved.

“We’re going to work hard to get them strong again and we want people to help out,” he said.

The Royal Canadian Legion Fort Malden Br. 157 Ladies Auxiliary executive for 2026-27 were installed by Wilkie at their May 20 meeting. 

Penny Stein is the president while Irene Goulin is 1^st Vice President. Linda McCort is 2^nd Vice President. Executives include Patricia Ford and Angel McFarland.

This is the 74^th year for the Ladies Auxiliary at the Amherstburg Legion.

Anyone wishing to get involved and become a new member can visit the bar at the Legion.
