An recreation and entertainment venue in Amherstburg has shut down again, though it is unclear the duration.
It was learned last Thursday that The Fort Fun Centre had closed, at least temporarily, as groups who had it booked started receiving notifications. A social media post of the Windsor-Essex Pinball Collectors Group stated the next “Stern Army” pinball tournament scheduled for June 28 has been cancelled and a new location for the Viper Pinball Stern Army tournaments for the fall is being sought.
The Rotary Club of Amherstburg has advised the community a fundraising bowling tournament scheduled for mid-August “can no longer go ahead” with the club to reach out to businesses and sponsors in the coming days. The tournament was to fundraise for an AED project for the community.
The River Town Times could not confirm the reason behind the shut down.
The RTT called, sent e-mails and left messages with The Fort, but did not receive a reply as of press time. A phone message at The Fort states “we are closed for renovations. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” with the line disconnecting after the message.
The business had re-opened under new management in 2024, but the owners who took over at that time stated they were no longer involved with the business as it was sold in February.
