The Amherstburg Cardinals U11 Rep team are wrapping up their season, with two games under the lights last week.

The most recent game was Saturday night against the Forest Glade Falcons at St. Clair College. That game ended up as a 9-8 win for the Falcons.

The previous game for the U11 Rep Cardinals was last Tuesday night at Bill Wigle Park. Amherstburg suffered a 17-9 loss to Lakeshore.

“This was a tough loss,” said Amherstburg head coach Shawn Windibank. “This Lakeshore team got us every time. We got to them tonight but couldn’t get over the hump.”

Windibank said the Cardinals were hoping to get at least one win versus Lakeshore but the Aug. 25 game was the final game between the teams this year.

“Their bats are consistent from top to bottom,” said Windibank. “We lack consistency up and down our lineup.”

Amherstburg didn’t quit but weren’t able to complete a comeback.

“We just ran out of time,” he said.

The game prior to the one against Lakeshore was a 12-10 win over the Windsor Hawks. That game was in Amherstburg Aug. 22.

“We just battled hard all the way until the end,” he said. “It was a gritty win.”

The U11 Cardinals played the Amherstburg U12 Rep team last Friday night at Malden Centre Park.
