Ribbon cutting held to celebrate new beauty salon in Amherstburg

A new beauty spa has opened in Amherstburg.
Although owner Heaven Cooper had already been operating Purple Vixen Beauty for over three years by going into homes, she has now opened up a new storefront location in unit 103 at 111 Sandwich St. S. It is the commercial/residential building in front of Sobeys.
“It’s been a labour of love to get here,” said Cooper. “I couldn’t have done it without my husband, who helped with the construction.”
Cooper also thanked her parents and family for the support, noting they received help in looking after their children while she worked with her husband at renovating the space.
Services she provides includes waxing, manicures, pedicures, lashes and brows, and party packages with services. Cooper stated it was important to her to have her new shop be accessible, noting she has a daughter with spina bifida.
“It was really important for me to provide that atmosphere for her and those like her,” said Cooper.
Mayor Michael Prue praised the accessibility features of the new spa, and wished Cooper the best in her new location. He said new businesses and new locations help “put the town on the map,” adding he believes it is a good location for Purple Vixen Beauty as there is the possibility there could be hundreds of new apartment units across the street from her when the former General Amherst High School is developed by the Valente Development Co.
“Thank you for choosing Amherstburg,” said Prue. “Thank you for having faith in our town. Council, and the town, is very proud of you and wish you success going forward.”
