The Amherstburg Food and Fellowship Mission hosted Thanksgiving lunch this past Monday (Oct. 12) with eat-in or take-out options available. Mission president Tim McAllister thanks his volunteers and meal sponsor TI Automotive. He said work to prepare the food started at 2:30 a.m. The Amherstburg Food and Fellowship Mission served 146 meals to those in need.

Five smiling kitchen volunteers stand behind trays of food in a stainless-steel kitchen, ready to serve a buffet.

The mission is still seeking volunteers for a food prep position. That volunteer job is Mondays from 9 a.m.-12 noon, with it consisting of preparing sandwiches, salads and vegetable snacks, setting up food for visitors arriving at 10 a.m., cleaning and sanitizing food prep areas after tasks have been completed and the optional duty of assisting the cook with additional tasks and helping to serve the lunch from 12-1 p.m. People can apply to be a volunteer at www.aburgmission.ca, by e-mailing aburgmission@yahoo.com or calling 519-736-9140.
