The installation of long-awaited traffic signals at a major rural intersection in Amherstburg is underway.

Installation of the lights at County Road 9 (Howard Ave.) and County Road 10 (Middle Side Road) has started. County council approved the lights last year and it went out for tender earlier this year.

“The work will take approximately two weeks to complete, and the public is likely to encounter flagging operations, as well as four-way flashing red signals, which are to be treated as a four-way stop,” the County of Essex states on its website.

That is the first of two intersection projects the County of Essex is looking at along the Amherstburg stretch of Howard Ave. The intersection of Howard Ave. and Alma St. is being studied for possible improvements at that location.
