Wolves senior boys volleyball team improves to 7-1 on the season

The North Star Wolves senior boys volleyball team is now 7-1 on the WECSSAA Tier 2 senior boys volleyball season after another win last week.
The Wolves hosted the UMEI Lightning Oct. 20 and North Star swept all three sets, winning 25-15, 25-16 and 25-16. Assistant coach Mary Ewer said the team’s trajectory is moving in a positive direction.
“We’re coming along fine,” she said.
The Wolves did a good job in many aspects of the game with Ewer pointing out the defense as one of the highlights.
“It’s coming along,” said Ewer.
Wolves head coach Jeff Miller said the season is progressing and the players are adapting to what the coaches want them to do.
“It was OK,” he said of last Tuesday’s match. “We’re slowly getting better with our systems. We’re starting to get more comfortable.”
Miller said UMEI is a decent team with good athletes, so he was pleased with the way the Wolves played in beating them.
“We played well,” said Miller.
The match with UMEI was the final regular season match at home with the two remaining matches on the road. North Star was in Essex Tuesday (Oct. 27) after this issue of the River Town Times went to press.
They are in Leamington today (Oct. 28) for a 4 p.m. match with Cardinal Carter, with that being a make-up game as the two teams were scheduled to play last Thursday (Oct. 22) but that was postponed as it was a fog day.
The junior Wolves are also doing well, as they have a 6-2 record. They also beat UMEI in three sets last Tuesday (Oct. 20), winning 25-16, 25-15 and 27-25. Their schedule this week mirrors the senior team, as they too were in Essex Oct. 27 and travel to Cardinal Carter today (Oct. 28).
