North Star’s first two games of the WECSSAA boys baseball season have been played and the Wolves have lost one and won one.
The two games, played last Monday and Wednesday at the Libro Centre in Amherstburg, saw the Wolves play a pair of high scoring games.
The first game, played April 20, saw North Star lose 12-10 to the visiting Belle River Nobles. That game ended after five innings.
The Wolves came back two days later against Lajeunesse.
North Star got off to a quick start and that led them to a 17-6 victory in a game that lasted four innings in two hours.
“It was good,” said North Star’s Graham Evans, after the Lajeunesse game. “Everyone came out ready to play.”
The bats have been going, Evans pointed out, and the Wolves played better defensively against Lajeunesse.
“The win gives us confidence going forward,” said Evans.
The Wolves entered the Julien Gaudette baseball tournament this week, with results unavailable as of press time.
Games were in Leamington, Tecumseh and Lakeshore.
Evans believed heading into the tournament that North Star was playing well and they look to keep that going moving into the future. He said they hope to get into the WECSSAA playoffs and do well.
The Wolves return to action May 4 at the Libro Centre’s premier baseball diamond against the Tecumseh Vista Academy Vortex at 3 p.m.
They will then host the Belle River Nobles May 6 at 3 p.m., before going on the road to play Brennan at 3 p.m.
The regular season concludes May 13 at home against Erie Migration at 3:30 p.m.
