The Windsor Police Service states that an elderly woman is in critical condition following a three-vehicle collision in Amherstburg. 


That report was issued Monday morning, after a three-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Front Road North and Kingsbridge Dr. Sunday.


At approximately 11:30 a.m. Jan. 4, police say members of the Amherstburg Detachment responded to a report of a collision at that intersection. According to police, the investigation found that a vehicle allegedly attempted a left turn and entered the path of an oncoming vehicle. The impact pushed the turning vehicle into a third vehicle that was stopped at a red light, police add.

An 80-year-old passenger in the turning vehicle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The intersection was closed for several hours while the Windsor Police Traffic Reconstruction Unit processed the scene.
