The musical duo “2Fish” performs at the “Christmas in the Burg” dinner last Sunday night The community got a chance to enjoy a dinner and some live music thanks to a local church. Encounter Church presented its second annual “Christmas in the Burg” Sunday evening featuring not only a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings and dessert, but live music, a Christmas story and even door prizes for a lucky few. Two seatings were held – one at 4 p.m. and the second at 6:30 p.m. -

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church held their annual Christmas Cantata last Wednesday night with another being held as part of last Sunday morning’ service. Under the musical direction of Matthew Kulbacki and accompanied by Rev. Olwyn Coughlin’s narration, the choir and Rev. Shirley Carleton entertained the crowd with Christmas music. St. Andrew’s will be hosting a Christmas Nativity play this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. as well as a candlelight service Christmas Eve at 7 p.m.

Firefighters and community volunteers gathered at Amherstburg Fire Station #1 to sort and pack boxes of toys as part of the “Stuff-A-Fire-Truck” toy drive. The Amherstburg Firefighters’ Association held its annual “Stuff-A-Fire-Truck” toy drive and it concluded over the weekend. Members of the association collected the new, unwrapped toys and pajamas from participating businesses last Friday and spent Saturday morning at Amherstburg fire station #1 packing the boxes. Families
