Following a remarkably successful debut that raised $14,000 for the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation, the Amherstburg Fights Cancer community fundraiser is back and aiming even higher.

The second annual event will take place Nov. 28 from 4-9 p.m. at the AMA Sportsmen Association, located at 468 Lowes Side Road.

Organized by local cancer survivor Norm Mickle of Buckingham Realty, Amherstburg, the evening is designed to offer hope, celebrate survivors and generate vital funds to help local families navigating a cancer diagnosis.

This year’s goal is to shatter last year’s total, with 100% of the proceeds directly benefitting crucial support systems. All funds raised stay within our community and this year, the money raised will be used to upgrade a radiation suite allowing for faster and more efficient treatment for patients at the Windsor Cancer Centre.

“Fighting cancer is a massive physical and mental battle but no one in our community should have to fight it alone,” said Mickle. “Last year, Amherstburg showed incredible generosity by helping us raise $14,000. This year, our goal is to bring even more people together, lift up our local fighters and survivors and raise crucial funds to make an even bigger impact on local cancer care.”

Guests attending the evening will enjoy a delicious pasta dinner provided by Rosa’s Italian Restaurant, along with refreshments and premier live musical entertainment featuring Tom Hogarth & Friends and Kara Kaufmann.

In addition to the food and live music, attendees can participate in a 50/50 draw and massive charity raffle featuring top-tier products, services and gift baskets donated by generous local business partners.

Due to venue capacities, only 200 tickets are available for this exclusive evening. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased in advance at local partner locations including Carol’s Unisex Hair Salon, Mealtime Express and Buckingham Realty.

Community members and local businesses looking to support this event, buy tickets or donate items to the charity raffle are encouraged to get involved immediately and contact Norm Mickle at 519-816-7189 or e-mail nmickle@buckinghamrealty.ca.
