The Rotary Club of Amherstburg decided its executive for the 2026-27 year and has also reviewed the past year.
Amherstburg Rotarians meet at the Fort Fun Centre, 689 Texas Road, every second and fourth Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
In December, the Rotary Club held its annual general meeting (AGM) and a regular meeting.
As part of the former, the current president was acclaimed for another term and two other Rotarians stepped up and joined the board.
Dan Monk, who took over as the Amherstburg club’s president last July, will stay on as president come July 2026 while Brianne Ross and Sally Holden will join the executive at that time.
Jeremy Warnock serves as treasurer while Susanne Rainhard is the club’s secretary. Both are appreciated for their ongoing commitment to Rotary. Jeremy is also the past president, and a good portion of the new members joined during his time as president.
The Rotary Club grew over the past year with many new members joining. New members are always welcome and people can contact the club via e-mail at rotaryclubofamherstburg@gmail.com for information on how to join to simply view a meeting or two to see if they are interested in becoming a Rotarian.
The Rotary Club of Amherstburg had a lot of smaller events throughout the year and are looking for ideas for major events they could host during this year.
The upcoming year is shaping up to be significant and the Amherstburg Rotary Club would love new ideas and new members to help carry them out. As of now, there are over 15 members in the club and the club is happy that their profile is being raised in the community.
Members are currently selling gift cards to the Fort Fun Centre as a fundraiser for the club.
Club members are also working on a project to have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) installed outdoors at the Libro Centre, in the area of the pickleball courts.
The Rotary Club of Amherstburg also awards two scholarships to local high school students, with those being the Hazen Price Memorial Scholarship and the June “Roadhouse” Paisley Memorial Scholarship.
Information on how to apply for scholarships in 2026 will be released in the coming weeks.
The Rotary Club of Amherstburg is also one of the teams in the Amherstburg’s Coldest Night of the Year. That event is Feb. 28 and more information, including how to donate, can be found at www.cnoy.ca/amherstburg.
More information on the club can be found at www.rotaryamherstburg.ca.
