Gibson Gallery presenting 59th annual Art by the River this weekend

Art by the River and host, the Gibson Gallery, would like to thank the major

sponsors of Art By the River being held this weekend - August 29 and 30 - from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fort Malden National Historic Site.

This year there will be many new exhibitors, making everything from jewellery to leather goods, fine art to clothing, metal art to literary art and everything in between. The majority of the exhibitors are local to Windsor-Essex County, while several have travel from afar, to this quaint town of Amherstburg to sell their hand-made items.

Fort Malden National Historic Site soldiers will be showing us their skills of firing off the cannon each day at noon and you should be able to catch a glimpse of McDonald’s characters Hamburglar and Grimace Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, look for the Plein Air Artist signs and witness the progress of these fine artists and their creations. The contest will be judged at 2 p.m. Sunday, on the Barrack’s Porch and will include a People’s Choice award. Be sure to stop by the Barracks and vote for your choice!

The price of admission is $8 per person or two people for $15 and digital payment at the gate is being accepted.

For your convenience, parking and a shuttle service is being provide from 179 Victoria St S. and additional parking is available at 125 Sandwich St. S, across from the old General Amherst High School.
