“Silly Olympics” being held later this month for two regional charities

No athletic ability required. However, a team with a sense of humour and a desire to do good in the community might just go all the way to the podium!
Two Amherstburg businesses, GL Heritage Brewing Co. and The Good Stuff., are teaming up to present The Silly Olympics 2026, a new community fundraiser coming to GL Heritage on Saturday, September 26 from 11:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Six teams of six will go head-to-head in a series of hilariously silly challenges — while also competing to raise as much money as possible for two local charities: The Welcome Centre Shelter for Women & Families and the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society.
Think old-school field day with a grown-up twist: egg-and-spoon races, sack races, water bucket relays, giant Jenga and other goofy challenges where teamwork, determination and a willingness to look ridiculous matter far more than strength or athletic ability.
Participants can register with friends, family or coworkers — or sign up individually and make some fun, new friends along the way. Teams will consist of six players, with spots filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tickets are $60 per participant and include entry into the games, one drink, a team-colour headband and a pair of suitably groovy Silly Olympian sunglasses.
Participants must be 19+. Profits from ticket sales and all donations will go directly to the two charities. Participants are also encouraged to rally friends and family to sponsor their team and increase the fundraising impact.
The festivities extend beyond the competition, with pre-game Silly Stretch Yoga from Sarah Fischer, live music from Bethany D’Alimonte, local food from Frate Street Food, post-game mini-massages from local RMTs and plenty of room for spectators to cheer from the sidelines. The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society will also be on site with a pet adopt-a-thon, merchandise and information about volunteer opportunities.
Whether you assemble a team, sign up solo, volunteer (we’d love your help!), or simply come out to cheer, the goal is the same: have a lot of laughs while doing some good right here in Windsor-Essex.
Individuals and teams can register at www.the-good-stuff.ca/the-silly-olympics.
