Michigan man fined by court
An individual from the United States has been fined $1,700 after an October court hearing. A man from Belleville, Michigan pleaded guilty to fishing without a licence and fishing with extra lines. In addition to the fine, he is prohibited from possessing an Ontario fishing licence and engaging in any fishing activities in the province for one year. Amherstburg Fire Department releases most recent stats
The Amherstburg Fire Department has released its stats for the fourth and final quarter for 2025. Statistics show 454 incidents in 2025, with 131 in the fourth quarter of the year. By comparison, there were 452 incidents in 2024 with 106 in the fourth quarter of that year. Of the 454 total incidents in 2025, there were 57 fire calls, 13 in the fourth quarter. Amherstburg man facing impaired driving charge from LaSalle police
A 29-year-old Amherstburg man is facing impaired driving charges after LaSalle police received complaints. According to LaSalle police, they received multiple complaints Feb. 8 shortly after 2 a.m. of an idling vehicle stopped at the intersection of Front Road at Laurier Dr. Officers responded to the intersection where the driver was allegedly observed to be asleep behind the wheel.
