Town council will send a list of proposals to the province on what to do with $500,000 from Diageo. Amherstburg town council will send a wish list to the province on what it would like to see the $500,000 in money from Diageo to be spent on. The money is part of a deal the Ontario government reached with Diageo after the Amherstburg bottling plant was closed. Extensive debate went into the new waterfront plaza during the May 25 town council meeting. Amherstburg Municipal Building. A ruling has been made regarding conflict of interest allegations regarding Deputy Mayor Chris Gibb and Councillor Linden Crain and it clears both of them. A three-page letter from Principles Integrity stated that the complaint alleged that Gibb and Crain were in a conflict of interest in relation to Item 18.2 of the Feb. 9, 2026 and did not declare those respective conflicts of interest.
