Art by the River returning to Fort Malden August 29-30
The 59th annual Art by the River returns to the grounds of Fort Malden National Historic Site of Canada Aug. 29-30. Art by the River is an end of summer tradition in its 59th year. Held at Fort Malden National Historic Site since 1967, it started as a centennial project with a few artists showcasing their paintings of local scenery with approximately 1,500 people viewing their work in one day. The Purple Theatre Company presented its “Wicked Wednesday Haunted Heritage Tour” July 29 at the Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village. The next tour is Aug. 19. Town criers come to town - and so does rain - on Heritage Weekend
A town crier competition was held as part of “Heritage Weekend” July 31-Aug. 2 in downtown Amherstburg. Open Air Weekends will be continuing throughout the rest of the month with themed weekends, with last weekend being Heritage Weekend.
